Mohammed Ali expresses his spirituality through his artwork
Birmingham-based renowned graffiti artist Mohammed Ali brings aerosol art and spoken word together in his new exhibition 'Writing on the Wall'.
Join Mohammed and internationally recognised poets for a one-off evening of live graffiti-art and poetry at The REP on Thursday 21 January 2010.
Writing on the Wall is a radical expression of emotion and values.
The project will see the artist take over the due-to-be-demolished Rep workshop.
Sights and sounds
Mohammed's live aerosol art will be fused with poetry from internationally renowned Zena Edwards, Birmingham's 2006 Poet Laureate Dreadlock Alien and American performer Amir Sulaiman, as well as a live production by Hip Hop theatre producer Jonzi D.
During a two-week residency in the theatre, Mohammed will also be working with local visual artists to create unique images, before embarking on the one-night-only performance.
In 2009 Mohammed won an ITV South Bank Arts Award
Inspired by the theme of '3', the thought provoking production will fuse sights and sounds to inspire the audiences' imagination. Live poetry and painting will blend seamlessly in front of and all-around a standing audience.
