Pete & the Pirates Christmas show
Pete & the Pirates
Pete & the Pirates are on the Stolen Recordings label

Pete & the Pirates are helping Reading have a cool yule with a hometown show on Sunday 13 December 2009.

One of the town's most successful bands, the Brit indie-rock quintet have just returned from a European tour supporting Maximo Park.

The Pirates have recently finished recording their second album, which follows last year's much acclaimed Little Death.

The band will be playing at Sub89 in Friar Street. Tickets cost £7.

Pete & the Pirates played at the CMJ music showcase event in New York on Wednesday 21 October 2009 where they received rave reviews, including Time Out NY proclaiming they are 'poised to be the indie darlings of 2010'.

For the Reading Christmas gig the band themselves are helping to curate the night.

Opening act will be WORSHIP, a new project fronted Tim Baggott of Fox Cubs which consists of former members of his former band and Godwits.

Their sound takes in everything from Radiohead to Sebastian Tellier, bringing together an impressive array of guitar and electronic sounds.

More bands to be confirmed.

Tickets are available from Sunday 1 November 2009 at Sound Machine, Harris Arcade, Reading; the Cell Studio, Cemetery Junction, Reading; HMVs in Reading or online at wegottickets and seetickets.
