Trooper Potts, of the Berkshire Yeomanry, was the only Reading soldier to be awarded the Victoria Cross for his heroic actions.
He received Britain's highest award for gallantry for helping the badly wounded Arthur Andrews to safety despite heavy enemy fire and having been shot in the thigh.
