In pictures: Bush visits ground zero
Three days after the world witnessed perhaps the worst terrorist atrocity in history - against the World Trade Center in New York - US President George W Bush visited the scene of the attack.

![]() President Bush was greeted by New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and Governor George Pataki
![]() He was shown some of the devastation from the attacks on Tuesday when two airliners crashed into the twin towers of WTC
![]() He had a stirring message for the hundreds of rescue workers who have been sifting through the wreckage
![]() He was standing on a burnt-out fire truck that has become a shrine for the firefighters' lost comrades
![]() The rescue workers mobbed Mr Bush, as chants of "USA, USA" went up over the crowd
