Sunday, May 10, 1998 Published at 15:36 GMT 16:36 UK Talking Point Will the euro be good for Europe?
A single currency for a 'New Europe', binding together the continent's disparate nations into an economic powerhouse to rival the United States.
That was the vision for the euro.
Euro-enthusiasts stress the benefits for business. They say currency stability will bring new investment, new jobs and lower interest rates.
Euro sceptics say many member countries will find sticking to the financial conditions tough. They predict economic chaos and widespread impoverishment of Europe's people. Language difficulties and loss of sovereignty, they say, will only add to the pain.
Now that the euro is almost upon us, do you have concerns about giving up your national currency?

But once the euro is introduced, will these nations feel left behind?
What do you think?
Some comments so far:
