This is the seat of double Oscar winner Glenda Jackson, who took the seat from the Conservatives in 1992.
Hampstead and Highgate is often associated with millionaires, leafy suburbs and large houses. Areas such as this do exist in the constituency, notably, Hampstead village and Belsize Park. There is a high percentage of people working in professional and managerial roles - over 60%.
The area is a haven for media celebrities including Noel and Liam Gallagher, Donna Air, Natalie Appleton of All Saints, Mel C and Boy George, though such famous and wealthy residents reflect only one aspect of this constituency.
The seat also includes Kilburn, Swiss Cottage and Fortune Green. Most Labour support comes from these areas. Fifteen per cent of the population here is non-white. The main Afro-Caribbean community comes from Kilburn, which also has a large Irish population.
Its most famous feature has to be Hampstead Heath, with its 800 acres of open space, which includes Kenwood House. The constituency is also home to the famous Royal Free hospital.
