The former mayor of Carmarthen won the Preseli Pembrokeshire Assembly seat for Labour by a majority of less than 3,000. It is a mainly rural seat, which includes the Preseli mountains and most of the port town of Milford Haven. Represented at Westminster by Labour’s Jackie Lawrence.
A member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries, he has worked in local government and political research. He has chaired groups on Access, Strokes, and Arthritis Care.
He is a veteran of the contention between Plaid Cymru and Labour in the volatile constituency of Carmarthen.
He is also governor of two schools and campaigns on issues such as welfare rights and disability.
