Karen Sinclair sits on the Standards of Conduct Committee and the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee.
She had a comfortable victory over the Plaid candidate in Clwyd South, a seat which is held by Martyn Jones at Westminster, and is a mix of Welsh-speaking farming country, border areas near Wrexham, and some industrial villages.
The AM for Clwyd South has a background in local politics, serving as a district councillor for seven years, and then with Denbighshire County Council. She was the first Labour councillor on both authorities. She has been chair of the Labour branch party. She is a member of UNISON, which assisted with her election expenses.
She worked as a care manager with people with learning disabilities. She is a school governor in Llangollen and former Citizen’s Advice Bureau manager. She is a keen campaigner on issues such as rural affairs and pollution.
In September 1999 the Western Mail said she had “failed to make an impact”. She has supported a move for an enquiry into student tuition fees.
