Peter Rogers is a member of the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee of the Assembly – as Tory spokesmen – and of the Health and Social Services Committee.
He stood in Ynys Mon and came third behind Ieuan Wyn Jones(PC), but won a top-up seat as no.2 on the Tory list for North Wales. He was Tory agriculture spokesman during the campaign.
An Anglesey farmer who was a prominent member of the Welsh farmers' protest over export bans in 1998. He declares two farms in Anglesey. He has called for the resignation of Christine Gwyther. A recent speech in the Assembly by him was described as “barnstorming without a megaphone”.
A keen campaigner on agriculture and rural life issues, he has spent his working life as a farm manager and as a sales manager. He was brought up in Birkenhead and worked on farms in Shropshire, later working as a salesman for an agrochemical company, and as a smallholder near Clwyd.
Mr Rogers is a vice-president of the Ynys Mon Conservative Association and is a magistrate.
He has been a leading rugby player(for Cardiff and Bridgend) and has appeared often on radio and TV programmes.
