Member of the Audit Committee of the Assembly, and of the Local Government and Environment Committee – he is the Lib Dem spokesman. His brief includes transport.
He was also elected Chairman of the South West Wales Regional Committee.
He stood in Swansea East and came a poor third to Val Feld, but picked up a top-up seat as no.1 on the Lib Dems’ regional list.
He has 15 years experience on Swansea Council (rising to leader of the Opposition, and issuing a stream of statements), whilst working as a civil servant in the Land Registry. He has been secretary of the Lib Dem Wales Finance and Administration Committee. He is senior party spokesman on open government. He is a former chairman of the Liberal Democrats in Wales.
He is governor of two schools in Swansea. He protested over a rise in local bus fares. He called for no appointed peers. He opposed out-of-town supermarkets.
By the end of July he had asked more questions in the Assembly than anyone else. “The swot of the Assembly” – Western Mail. Worked so late one night, his car was locked in the car park.
Cuts his hair in a distinctive cropped fringe. Interested in film, theatre, poetry and cats. Declares that his partner works for the National Museums and Galleries of Wales, and lets out a commercial property. Also declares small gifts, including two dozen bottles of ale.
