![]() Kumasi Stadium Kumasi is considered by many Ghanaians as the capital of football. The game tends to be followed more fanatically here than anywhere else in the country. The city is home to one of Africa's most popular clubs, Asante Kotoko, and the country's largest capacity stadium of 80,000. Kumasi is Ghana's second largest city and the capital of the Ashanti Kingdom. It is located about 260km from the capital, Accra. The teams that are going to be based in Kumasi will train at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology grounds and the premises of the local branch of the Ghana Brewery. There is first class accommodation in both cities, though this is fairly limited in Kumasi. Howeer, CAF President Issa Hayatou says there is no cause for alarm among fans over finding a bed: "Everybody will have his bed and will sleep in peace". |
