Spain
The most impressive team in the qualifiers, Spain scored 42 goals in eight games to top their group with something to spare. After losing 3-2 to Cyprus they bounced back with an 8-0 thrashing in the return leg. But to have any chance of finally doing themselves justice they must find a way to eliminate the off days and dispense once and for all with inferior opposition.
Recent European Championship record:
Euro 96: quarter-final
Euro 92: did not qualify
Euro 88: group stage
