City: Southampton

Hampshire was a county in celebration in 1996 when it was announced that the National Lottery would award the cricket club 7.176m towards the development of a new county ground at Southampton's West End.

However the old County Ground, which has been the home of Hampshire for over a century, will make a tearful farewell to international cricket when Sri Lanka take on Kenya in one of the final Group A matches.

England fans will be sorry that they don't play a match here as their one-day specialist Graeme Hick holds the record individual score in the ground's history when he hit an unbeaten 303 for Worcestershire against Hampshire in 1997.
