 | On the final stage of their journey to the Pacific ships are first lowered 9.4 metres in one step at the Pedro Miguel Lock. They then move via the small Miraflores Lake to the two-stage Miraflores Locks where they are lowered a further 16 metres. The Miraflores Locks have the tallest gates on the system to cope with tidal variations on the Pacific of up to 4 metres. |
