Britain's privatised rail industry is at a crossroads. As more and more people use the trains many are worried about delays, overcrowding, fares and safety. In November 1999 the BBC looked at the main issues and examined whether the industry would be able to deliver more efficient and safer railways in the face of steeply rising demand.
