JEREMY BOWEN Baghdad: 13 February 1991 Five weeks into Operation Desert Storm, the allies bombed an air raid shelter in a residential area of Baghdad. Nobody knows how many people died in the shelter; the allies still stick to their story that the building was a military installation. The BBC’s Middle East Correspondent Jeremy Bowen had just arrived in the Iraqi capital, he describes it as like being on another planet. |
