Try to visualise the new millennium and what do you see? For many it will be an image of the Millennium Dome.
Located in Greenwich, London, which gives its name to the meridian from which all the world's time is measured, the £760m Dome is a monument to a new era.
When it opens to the public on 1 January, visitors will be able to tour its 14 themed zones, see an acrobatic show and watch a specially commissioned Blackadder comedy film.
Here, BBC News Online gives a sneak preview of what it will look like inside.
