Foreign Office Minister Geoff Hoon moves to the Ministry of Defence, to fill the vacancy left by the departing Lord Robertson.

Mr Hoon has been a rising star in the Blair ranks, having been promoted from the Lord Chancellor's Department to the Foreign Office following the death of Derek Fatchett earlier this year.

He was also moved in July's reshuffle within the Foreign Office, becoming minister for Europe.
