Judges' Woolsack
The Law Lords sit on the Woolsack during the state opening of Parliament, but during a normal working day in the Lords it is more likely to be occupied with any overspill from the government's frontbench. As well as being the Britain's second legislative chamber the Lords is also Britain's highest court of appeal. The 12 Law Lords, appointed from senior members of the judiciary recently heard appeals from General Augusto Pinochet's legal team.
