Charles: Prince with passion

The 10-year-old Cheam schoolboy the day after becoming the Prince of Wales Charles was variously described as a shy, sensitive and terribly polite child. Royal watchers say the young Prince is said to have yearned for love and affection: While the Queen “treated him very nicely”, she was endlessly preoccupied with Royal duties.

Charles was the first heir-apparent in British history to be educated with other children, beginning his education at Cheam School.

The title 'Prince of Wales' may be possessed only by the eldest son of a Sovereign. The Prince of Wales's other titles are the Duke of Cornwall, Duke of Rothesay, Earl of Carrick, Lord of Renfrew, Lord of the Isles, Prince and Great Steward of Scotland and Earl of Chester.
