Spain
Spain has only recently become a fully-integrated member of the Nato alliance and Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar commended the armed forces for its contribution to the attacks. He blamed the Serbian leader, Slobodan Milosevic for provoking the action.

Four F-18 fighters and a Hercules refuelling aircraft took part in the Nato operation.

The Nato's Secretary General, Javier Solana is a former Spanish foreign minister. He oversaw the deployment of Spanish peacekeeping troops during the war in Bosnia. That intervention proved popular with the Spanish public and boosted the country's international profile and credibility.
