Westminster Hall
This grand medieval hall was chosen as the site for Her Majesty the Queen Motherís lying-in-state. The ancient building has been in continuous use for more than 900 years. Once a venue for royal banquets, the hall has played its part in many ceremonial and state funerals over the centuries. The coffin of the Queen Motherís husband, King George VI, was placed here in 1952 as was that of Britainís wartime Prime Minister, Sir Winston Churchill, in 1965.
