Return to Windsor
The Queen Motherís coffin arrived in a procession of vehicles at Windsor Castle shortly after 2pm, entering through the Henry VIII Gate. On its 90 minute journey from Westminster, thousands of people had lined the route, some standing silently, other throwing flowers towards the hearse. Once in the castle precincts the coffin was carried into St George's Chapel for a private committal service later in the day.
