Angola

Angola has sent troops across the long border with the Democratic Republic of Congo to support President Kabila against the rebels.
It is concerned to prevent supplies reaching the former rebel movement, Unita, via Congo.
Angola has one of the best-trained and best-equipped armies in the region.
It also sent troops to neighbouring Congo-Brazzaville during the brief civil war there.
