Pristina
Is the capital of the province of Kosovo and the base for the Albanian political leadership under Ibrahim Rugova. He has spearheaded a campaign of passive resistance, calling for a restoration of autonomy, the Albanian language and a new national curriculum.

Kosovo Polje
The site of a famous battle in 1389 between Serbs and Turks. The Serbs lost the battle and also lost their statehood for the next 500 years. The battlefield has become a site of pilgrimage for Serbian nationalists.
