Kudakwashe Mapfumo, 26, is an activist for President Robert Mugabe's Zanu-PF party, who believes that opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai will reverse the gains of Zimbabwe's independence.
I support Zanu-PF because it's the only government that availed education, health to all and brought dignity to black people.
Tsvangirai is a front for the whites. He is being backed by the same whites who used to fund the Ian Smith government. And for Tsvangirai to believe these same whites have changed and now want a black leader is day-dreaming.
Although some things have gone wrong under Zanu-PF leadership, one needs to explain why they went wrong.
The whites never gave us economic independence. So as far as I am concerned, only Zanu-PF can provide that by taking over the land.
We never had economic independence and now that we have started to fight for it, there are artificial shortages caused by the whites in collaboration with the opposition so that people can turn against the government.
I have a lot of faith in Zanu-PF and President Mugabe. All we need to do is give them the mandate to deliver.
My family was among the first beneficiaries of land reform. We were given a piece of land which my parents have been able to farm and provide us with food. But Tsvangirai wants to give that land back to the whites. I can't support that.
Zanu-PF is winning. All those people shouting for Tsvangirai do not go and vote. It's the rural people who will vote.
People in the rural areas support the ruling party because our party has been genuine on its policy on land reform. The government has been giving them land and that will win us votes.
Zimbabwe used to boast of having a good education system and a good health system.
That has been affected because we were forced by the Western countries to adopt ESAP (World Bank and IMF-inspired economic reform programme).
Our education has suffered as a result. But a lot of us are grateful today because of the good education we got under Mugabe.
