Movement
Special forces travel vast distances behind enemy lines by moving only in the dead of night. But they also employ other techniques to escape the enemy.

  • 1. Hilltops are avoided to prevent easy identification against the skyline.
  • 2. By moving in zig zags and up and down a gradient, a soldier reduces the risk of being tracked. When being chased, they will double back so that a tracker thinks that a dog has lost the scent.
  • 3. Anti-personnel mines slow down pursuers but are time-consuming to lay.
  • 4. A patrol will use cover and only cross open areas at the narrowest point.
  • 5. Special forces shadow roads from a distance without actually using them.
