In another night of widespread bombing, there were reports of strikes on Kabul, Kandahar, Jalalabad and near Mazar-e-Sharif.
B-52 long-range bombers were used to carpet bomb Taleban front lines north of Kabul and other targets around the country.
A powerful explosion was reported in Kandahar at about 0200GMT. There are reports that a Red Crescent medical dispensary was also hit. The Pentagon says it hit a building about 30 metres from a hospital.
The Taleban say that 1,500 civilians have died in the 25 days of US air raids.
