Intro:
After decades of fighting, Afghanistan has become a patchwork of different ethnic groups, each with their own allegiances to neighbouring countries. The Taleban are predominantly made up of Pashtun, which account for about 50% of the population. The Northern Alliance are mainly Uzbeks, Tajiks and Hazaras.
