United Kingdom
Britain has provided the strongest diplomatic and military backing to the US in its campaign against terrorism.

British submarines and planes look set to continue their active role in air strikes against targets in Afghanistan, and troops and ships have been committed to the region.

Prime Minister Tony Blair has also undertaken a huge diplomatic drive to build worldwide support for US-led action against Osama Bin Laden and his al-Qaeda network.

Mr Blair welcomed the opposition's capture of Kabul. But he cautioned that the military action is not over and the al-Qaeda terrorist network has not yet been destroyed.
