Russian President Vladimir Putin has moved closer to the US since 11 September attacks, and urged all countries to take part in the coalition against terrorism during the Apec summit.
The foreign ministry welcomed the capture of Kabul, and said there was no place in a future Afghan Government for Taleban members who "have tainted themselves through links with international terrorism and drug trafficking". Moscow has publicly backed the Alliance supplying it with military aid. |
