![]() The international community - and particularly Pakistan - is anxious that Pashtuns are represented in any future government. They comprise more than 45% of the population. The leader of the interim administration - Hamid Karzai - is Pashtun, as are several other cabinet ministers. Pashtuns have always dominated Afghan politics, and attempts to exclude them from power have historically resulted in bloodshed. Politically, Pashtuns span a wide spectrum of views.
