Hedayat Amin Arsala (Pashtun)

Who he is: Hedayat Amin Arsala is finance minister in the interim administration. He is a former World Bank official, and served as foreign minister during the 1992-1996 government of the mujahideen.

He is also the nephew of Pir Gailani, who headed the Peshawar delegation at the Bonn talks.

What he believes: He is a supporter of the former King Zahir Shah. Correspondents say that Afghan exiles have tended to get jobs exploiting skills learnt abroad, such as finance or education, while jobs such as interior or defence have gone to Northern Alliance people with a better knowledge of events on the ground.
