2. Radome
Known as the 'big look' antenna, this is the aircraft’s main listening device, packed with electronic surveillance equipment that provides 360 degree coverage. It is designed so it does not give off signals that could alert its target.

There are more antennae in covered pods called 'canoes' on the aircraft's top and underside. They are capable of intercepting and analysing military and civilian radio, and other electronic communications including e-mails, faxes, and telephone conversations.
