Tibetan refugees have been fleeing Chinese rule for four decades. They have mostly escaped by foot to India, on long, hazardous journeys across the Himalayas. Thousands of economic immigrants from China also risk their lives in the search of a better life in the West. Many fall into the hands of ruthless gangs of smugglers known as snakeheads.
