While improved therapy and treatment have enabled people living with HIV to enjoy a greater quality of life, prevention efforts appear to be slowing down. There are signs that safer sex in homosexual communities is on the wane, while the level of intravenous drug use remains high. Another worrying trend among young people in several countries is less frequent condom use, and higher rates of sexually transmitted infections.
