The Queen's tour

North West
The Queen made two visits to the North West as part of her jubilee tour.
The first was a two-day tour, beginning on 24 July, during which the Queen opened the Commonwealth Games in Manchester and opened the new terminal of Liverpool's John Lennon Airport.
On 4 August she returned for the closing ceremony of the games and went on to visit Preston and Carlisle Castle the following day.
