On Tuesday the Queen will set off from Buckingham Palace at 1040 BST passing along The Mall, The Strand and Fleet St for a national service of Thanksgiving at St Paulís at 1130 BST.

As the Queen leaves the palace there will be a gun salute in Hyde Park by the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery. On the way she will stop for a traditional ceremony at the entrance to the City of London.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh arrive at St Paulís
At Temple Bar the Lord Mayor of the City of London will offer the Queen the hilt of his Pearl Sword as part of an ancient ritual which dates back to 1215.

After the Queen touches the hilt of the sword, the Lord Mayor will move to the front of the procession to lead Her Majesty to St Paul's Cathedral. This is followed by another gun salute at the Tower of London as the Queen leaves Temple Bar.

After the service the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will attend a special Golden Jubilee lunch at the Guildhall with the Lord Mayor of London and the prime minister, before returning to the palace to watch the jubilee pageants.
