The Queen leads the ceremony to invest her son, Charles, the Prince of Wales.

The service took place on 1 July 1969 in Caernarfon Castle. It was the first such ceremony since 1911 and it became the launch pad for the 20-year-old prince to assume his public role of heir to the throne.
