The passenger train Trains collide

Despite the huge impact of the collision, the passenger train was still upright and travelled a few hundred metres down the track.

It then collided with the Freightliner Company goods train, which was travelling at approximately 60mph in the opposite direction.

The freight train was carrying more than 1,000 tons of imported coal from the Humber port of Immingham to Ferrybridge in West Yorkshire.
