Virus in EuropeOn 13 March the first case of foot-and-mouth in France is confirmed in the region of Mayenne, on the Loire-Normandy borders. The area is near to a farm which had imported sheep from the UK in February. The number of cases in the UK continue to grow during the following week. On 21 March several cases are confirmed in the Netherlands. A day later the Republic of Ireland becomes the fourth country in Europe to be infected by the virus. |
