DEEP FIELD The beginning of timeThis "deepest-ever" view of the Universe revealed several hundred unknown galaxies. The Hubble Deep Field was obtained by staring into apparently blank sky for hundreds of hours, collecting the faint light. Besides the classical spiral and elliptical galaxies, there is a bewildering variety of other galaxy shapes. Some of the galaxies may have formed less than one billion years after the Big Bang. | |
