		Mark McPherson Mark McPherson is from Turning Point, a charity which helps people with serious problems related to alcohol, drugs, mental health and learning difficulties to live a more independent life as part of their communities.


		David Poley David Poley is Head of Policy for The Portman Group, a pan-industry organisation which was set up in 1989 by the UK's leading drink manufacturers. Its aim is to help prevent misuse of alcohol and to promote sensible drinking.

		Mary Coughlan The Irish singer Mary Coughlan had a long running battle with the bottle. She hit a low point in the early 1990s, resulting in her checking into Dublin’s Rutland Centre. It is now seven years since she had a drink and she says being sober means more than anything in the world to her.


		Dr Mark Porter Dr Mark Porter spent five years in a variety of hospital specialities before entering General Practice. He joined the BBC in 1992 and has since played a key role in much of BBC One’s health coverage. Despite this he still works at his busy NHS practice in Stroud.
