A policy-making body with some legislative powers made up of prominent religious, social and political figures in Iran. It is currently led by former President Hashemi Rafsanjani. The council also acts as an advisory body to the Supreme Leader and is the main arbitrator between Parliament and the Council of Guardians in resolving disputes over legislation.
