Introduction
This year’s festival season promised a lot - and on the whole, it delivered.

Glastonbury made a triumphant comeback, while old favourites like Reading, Womad, T In The Park and Homelands, provided a wide choice for the discerning festival-goer.

But not everything was a success. The ill-fated Essential Festival cancelled its London show, Leeds was blighted by a riot and Creamfields was overshadowed by the closure of the club which founded the event.

Despite these blips though, the UK's festivals have now firmly established themselves as part of the British summer.
