Job: Enron corporate-development executive
Ms Watkins is the “whistleblower” in the Enron scandal.
In August 2001 she wrote a letter to Kenneth Lay warning of accounting irregularities that could pose a threat to the company.
“I am incredibly nervous that we will implode in a wave of accounting scandals. My eight years of Enron work history will be worth nothing on my résumé, the business world will consider the past successes as nothing but an elaborate accounting hoax,” she wrote.
In her testimony before congressional committees, she cast sacked chief financial officer as the villain of the piece but claimed that chairman Kenneth Lay was duped.
