The US is already mobilising its military forces outside of the region and even at home. The question is what it will do with them. Here are some of the options:
Bombing: Perhaps the most potent symbol of modern warfare is the 19 strong B-2 Stealth bomber fleet at Whiteman air force base, Missouri.
However, the B-2 Spirit fleet has an intercontinental range and can refuel in midair. It can carry both conventional and nuclear weapons.
Special Forces: The US has approximately 20,000 servicemen and women in the army and navy classed as Special Operations Forces. The SEAL (Sea Air and Land) teams are the US's version of the British SAS and would figure highly in any ground offensive, such as snatch squads or limited attacks on small targets. The whereabouts of these personnel remains secret and they often operate independently of other units.
