New York crash site : WTC South Crashed: 09:03 EDT in to south tower of the World Trade Center

Killed: 65, including cabin crew and pilots, plus many more in the tower
The second airliner crashed about 15 minutes after the first. It left Boston's Logan airport at 08:14 and was en route to Los Angeles when it was hijacked. It hit the south tower at about the level of the 80th floor.

9/11 Commission: How the hijacks unfolded

Hijackers: The hijackers were armed with knives. The FBI named the suspects as Marwan Al-Shehhi, Fayez Ahmed, Mohald Alshehri, Hamza Alghamdi and Ahmed Alghamdi. Marwen Al-Shehhi is reported to be the cousin of Mohammed Atta, one of the supected terrorists on Flight 11. They both received aviation training in Florida. Mohald Alshehri is thought to be related to the Alshehri brothers who died on Flight 11.

On board: Passenger Peter Hanson called his parents in Easton, Connecticut, a short time before the crash and told them hijackers had taken over the plane and stabbed one of the cabin crew. An unnamed flight attendant called an emergency number from a phone at the back of the aircraft: he said both pilots had been killed, a flight attendant had been stabbed and the hijackers were probably flying the plane.
