Meimad The third member of the One Israel block, now the largest alliance in the Knesset with 27 seats, Meimad aims to marry traditional Judaism and democracy and Orthodox religious concerns with a commitment to the secular community's desire for reform. Formed in 1988, its list is made up of team of rabbis, university professors and politicians. Meimad proposes a new covenant between religion and state which, among other things, provides increased Jewish education in both the general and religious school systems. The party also supports the continuation of the Oslo accords and improved health and social services regardless of economic status. |
