White House lawyers called the articles of impeachment a "witches brew" of unfounded allegations. While Mr Clinton’s behaviour was wrong, they argued that it did not reach the level of "high crimes and misdemeanours", the constitutional standard for removal from office. The defence team has been led by Charles Ruff. Other lawyers include: Gregory Craig, Cheryl Mills, David Kendall, former Sen Dale Bumpers and Nicole Seigelman. |
